Mali Unity
We have always lived together
- From the 8th century to the 13th century: the Ghana Empire stretched from Timbuktu region to Senegal via Mauritania and the Kayes region.
- 13th and 14th centuries: the Mali Empire stretched from the Senegal and Gambia coast all the way to the Algerian border in North-East Mali, via Timbuktu, Gao and Kidal.
- 15th century: the Songhai Empire covers the entire Mali territory and stretched to most of Niger and northern Nigeria.

Let’s not fall into the trap of division and intolerance
We have lived together with our diversity for so many centuries.
People who only have brutality and criminality as tools of persuasion endeavour to break our balanced society. Although our unity is solid, even though it is not based on a sand castle, we should always try to preserve and strengthen it.
We must rise above the cultural jingoism and the religious intolerance that are being imported to our country.
We must bring to light our art of living together so that this can inspire the rest of the worldThis ability that we have to live together and not just side by side, with our neighbours; this kinship that we have created with people of different backgrounds and cultures; this pride that the groups have in their difference, their culture, their language, their attire, their religion is unique in that it not perceived as a threat by the neighbours and the Government. It is welcome and expected. This is a beautiful example to the rest of the world.
